I Am Sitting In A Pool

A political-poetic listening attitude, in the style of Alvin Lucier

Fifteen years ago, Mother Europe was hailed with her progressive vigour and pride. All her human rights, freedom of expression, migration, asylum rights and diversity, to name but a few, were widely celebrated. Has the host today become an aged, tired Europe that has no strength, power or desire to save her children from fascist thinking?

The fact that the world exists in time means that it is never a closed chapter because it is constantly transforming into something new. To create this sense of transformation here and now, to experience oneself as entwined, enveloped, absorbed, entangled, in short, immersed in an environment, the sound installation invites visitors into a pool of more sensitive listening.

The sound installation lasts around 90 minutes and takes place in the gymnastics room at Mineralbad Berg. Spectators are asked to enter the room barefoot, on socks or in indoor trainers. If you want to use the pool afterwards, please bring swimwear.
