OPEN CALL // &FRIENDS VISIT

at the festival double 10 days of free swimming in Stuttgart
in the period from 30 April to 5 May 2024

The FREISCHWIMMEN festival meets 6 TAGE FREI, the festival of independent performing arts organised by the city of Stuttgart and the state of Baden-Württemberg, to mark the 20th anniversary of the production platform of the same name. On ten instead of the usual six days full of theatre, performance, dance and music from Baden-Württemberg, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, FREISCHWIMMEN and 6 TAGE FREI combine to form a unique double festival. As a brilliant spring festival, 10 tage freischwimmen celebrates the contemporary performing arts and asks in very different ways: How can we age together, both wildly and with dignity? At a time when the the lifespan of the planet as we know it is becoming increasingly uncertain? One thing is clear: we won't get back together this young!

10 tage freischwimmen invites eight freelance performers from all areas of the performing arts to take part in the festival programme in Stuttgart for four days. They will attend performances and the "Academy of Ageing" together, take part in the workshop programme, meet for a networking breakfast and experience the festive anniversary gala with award ceremony. In addition, they will meet with institutions and organisers from the local scene as well as with festival makers from the festival network. The programme of the &FRIENDS BESUCH programme is co-designed and accompanied by cultural manager and curator Isabell Ohst.

Who can apply?

• Professional freelance performers from all areas of the independent performing arts based in Germany.
  
• We are particularly keen to bring different generations together for this edition of the festival. We welcome applications from all age groups and walks of life, especially from older people.
  

What do we offer?

• Allowance of 4 x € 165 per day per person.
  
• Overnight stay in a hotel
  
• Payment of travel expenses
  
• per diems in accordance with the Federal Travel Expenses Act
