A Night as Ritual: O-Team invites you to Nachtstück No. 8
O-Team has been developing visually striking, sensuous and at the same time highly conceptual performance formats since 2007. The core team around Nina Malotta and Samuel Hof creates theatrical rituals and states of exception that are not meant to be merely observed, but physically experienced by the audience. Their work moves between performance, puppet and object theatre, visual theatre and immersive formats – often interdisciplinary, always idiosyncratic.
O-Team’s work is marked by a precise handling of material, space and time. The group designs elaborate stage environments and objects, developing each form consistently from its conceptual focus. O-Team is interested in liminal experiences: situations in which perception shifts, attention intensifies and a sense of community temporarily emerges anew.
3 TAGE FREI presents: Nachtstück No. 8 – an overnight stay with O-Team
With Nachtstück No. 8, O-Team invites the audience to spend an entire night together. The performance begins in the evening and concludes in the morning with a shared breakfast. The space resembles a dormitory: cots, nightshirts, slippers. Mobile phones are put away; everyday life is left outside.
Over the course of the night, a carefully composed ritual unfolds through a sequence of processions, music, objects, light, scents, and quiet actions. While some guests fall asleep, the performance continues in their dreams. Live-produced music, analogue sounds, and visual compositions reflect states of fatigue, euphoria, meditative calm, and exhaustion.
At its core is the conscious experience of the night — a state that usually remains hidden in everyday life. Night Piece creates a space for intimacy, vulnerability, and community, and asks what can emerge when time, wakefulness, and togetherness are renegotiated.
